Pat Coffey Patrick grew up in the small town of Myrtle in north Mississippi and majored in chemical engineering at Mississippi State University. The closest she got to art in college was drawing blueprints.
It was while working for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Division of Water Pollution Control that she observed the variety of landscapes and flowers to be found in Tennessee. Wanting a outlet to express this beauty, Patrick began painting classes with Jackson artist, Norma Dennison and later with Janice Sumler.
She has continued her training with workshops with Lian Zhen, Joe Fettingis, Laurin McCracken, Kate Lagaly, Jean Grastorf, Cheng-Khee Chee, Fred Rawlinson, Mary Ann Beckwith. Kathleen Conover, Paul Jackson and Tom Lynch.
Trips to Australia and China added to her collection of subject matter.
After over 37 years protecting Tennessee’s water, 21 years as the manager of the program in West Tennessee, Patrick retired to devote more time to her painting. She has won numerous awards in local and regions competitions and served as the president of the Jackson Art Association. Her paintings hang in several local and international [Chinese] collections. Her work can be seen at Art in the Village, Casey Jones Village in Jackson, TN and Art on the Square in Bolivar, TN
God's creations cannot be equaled for inspiration.
